W h o ' s i n s p i r e d y o u i n 2 0 1 9 ?

As the end of the year draws near, I am feeling a little reflective about who has inspired me in 2019.

This year I had the huge privilege of inviting some amazingly gifted, kind-hearted and fascinating women to share their story on the Being Truly Me blog. So thank you to Carol @haneys_holistics, to Bonny Prim @bprimhealthcoach, to Helen @the_helen_pinkett and to @samtheherbalist for taking the time to offer your words of wisdom and of course your fascinating stories. You have all inspired me.

Otherwise 2019 has certainly been eventful. Firstly welcoming a new puppy into our home and spending the first few months mostly living in my kitchen, training and helping him to learn the rules of living under our roof. It was a wonderful time, and equally a huge challenge as I needed to put my business on hold slightly whilst I adopted the role of being a new mum all over again.

Spending so much time at home with him I had time to think and went through a rollercoaster of emotions about how I truly felt about my business, and whether I did in fact want to even continue pursuing it.

After much deliberation and realising that I didn’t want a “proper job” I wanted to breathe new life into Being Truly Me and be more creative. I made the decision to let go of some of the things that were dampening my spark, and set about creating some space for something more positive and hopeful to grow in its place.

One of the things that has kept the fire burning in me to keep going throughout all of this, even when it has felt unbelievably hard, has been listening to the @hollytucker podcast - Conversations of Inspiration.

Recommended to me by my neighbour, every Monday this gorgeous dose of encouragement serves to lift my spirits and give me hope that by doing what I love, sharing my bit of positivity with the world and creating a business I am passionate about is my purpose.

If you don’t listen to it, and you’re a small business owner I wholeheartedly recommend you check it out.

If it wasn’t for these squares I’m not sure I would have crossed paths with Nikky Reed, founder and owner of @nolabelsmentalwellbeing which would have been a real shame.

I may have popped in to her shop for a mooch around as it’s only down the road from me, but we may never have had the opportunity to sit down and share stories over a cuppa.

Her gorgeous shop sells handmade, created and upcycled gifts by people with mental wellbeing connections and with a table and chairs in the window, there’s the opportunity to craft and chat too.

Amongst so many other gifted artists and creators, Nikky has agreed to add the Being Truly Me range of prints, postcards and greetings cards to her shelves, which is just brilliant!

If you’re local or visiting the area, do pop in you’re sure to find that something special for someone who means the most.
